The Maura Healey-connected Luce ICE hotline at the heart of the Worcester Eureka Street anti-ICE protest last May, is now boasting on Instagram of stalking federal agents at the New Bedford District Court earlier this week, amid reports military-grade surveillance tactics deployed against federal officers nationwide.
While “patrolling” activists went up to a parked vehicle to question a motorist as to his law enforcement status.
“LUCE New Bedford will not stand for this activity to occur within our communities, and will continue to patrol and monitor the area to keep ALL community members safe,” Luce New Bedford wrote on Instagram yesterday.
The heightened confrontational activity and rhetoric follows moves by Mayor Wu and Governor Healey to double down on anti-ICE policies, while insisting that Massachusetts is not a sanctuary state.
According to Luce’s Instagram, ICE was on state property earlier this week setting up a potential conflict with Governor Healey’s executive order against federal immigration law enforcement at state courthouses.
“LUCE verifiers were able to confirm federal agents have been repeatedly present at the New Bedford courthouse, attempting to kidnap community members. Today, the agent pictured was observed speaking with a court employee on state property- attempting to stage yet another kidnapping of a local resident. These actions do not comply with current executive orders.”
Fox News Digital reported yesterday on a “shadow network of anti-ICE scouts tracking law enforcement across 13 databases” and said activists are deploying a “military-grade intelligence gathering method called ‘SALUTE.’ An acronym for Size, Activity, Location, Uniform, Time, Equipment, SALUTE is a mnemonic device that typically instructs soldiers how to systematically track details about enemies.”
Donations to the Luce ICE Hotline go to Neighbor to Neighbor a Worcester based NGO runs by Dalida Rocha, a Governor Maura Healey appointee to the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Last year Healey and Massachusetts AG Andrea Campbell each gave Neighbor to Neighbor $50,000 grants.
“In light of yesterday’s sightings at the courthouse, we would like to note- LUCE verifiers are trained and experienced in identifying ICE and Federal Agents. Many have been first hand witnesses to local ICE operations, and understand exactly what to look for while patrolling,” Luce New Bedford added.
“We do not make statements about ICE / Federal Agent sightings lightly, nor do we aim to create fear or panic within the community. Any information shared is carefully considered and based on credible verification, with the sole purpose of awareness and safety.”
Next week former Worcester City Councilor Etel Haxhiaj faces trail in Worcester District Court for charges steaming from the civil unrest on Eureka Street. Neighbor to Neighbor’s political wing spent $7700 in her failed re-election bid last November.
