This is a story of how a small group of noisy data center opponents are attempting to thwart the very technology that allows you to read this article on your mobile phone.

And it is also a story of how a modern company converted a drug infested failed spaghetti factory into a tax paying, job producing, environmentally complaint facility - even by the standards of the Healey administration - in the city which birthed the American industrial revolution.

Little noticed amongst the social media buzz against a Lowell data center last month was a legal brief filed by Governor Maura Healey’s Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, defending the rule making process which favored the expansion plans of the Markley data center.
